Tintri Server Virtualization
Over the past twenty years, the world around storage has gone through revolutionary change—driven by virtualization and cloud. Unfortunately, storage has changed far less, often cramping company efforts to virtualize.
Tintri challenges convention. We take on the ‘storage quo’ with products specifically built for virtualized and cloud environments. For organizations that have prioritized virtualization, the visibility we offer is a revolution. And change agents understand the value of challenging convention:
LUNs and volumes. Storage administrators have been forced to learn their own language—speaking in LUNs, volumes and RAID when business requirements are in VMs. It’s a gap that leads to miscommunication and frustration.
VMs. This is the fundamental difference between Tintri and conventional storage, and the heart of our value prop. Tintri bridges the gap, letting both the business and the storage admin see and act in VMs. Never waste another minute carving LUNs, setting RAID policy, or planning how to handle the next set of VMs.
Over-provision. To try and maintain performance, admins leave buffers of unused storage—some slack in the system.
VM-level Quality of Service. Assign every single VM its very own Quality of Service ‘lane’. As a result, VMs with very different performance characteristics can all be consolidated on to a single storage system. And Tintri’s dashboard always shows you exactly how much storage and performance remains on your VMstore(s), so you provision storage only when necessary.
Labor Intensive. Conventional storage is a black box. It requires the storage admin to manually tune, balance loads, adjust policies, etc. It demands a lot of guesswork and manual effort.
Freedom. In less than 30 minutes, Tintri is installed and you can start vMotioning VMs onto the system. Performance across workloads is optimized. Replication and cloning are automated at the VM level. IT and virtualization teams have an elegant solution they can use to manage their own storage requirements; freeing the storage admin to focus on initiatives that are more valuable and strategic than storage tuning.
There are two types of companies that need to take a close look at Tintri. First, those that are already highly virtualized today—especially those with a virtualization first policy (new workloads are virtualized if at all possible). Second, companies where storage is a recognized impediment to becoming more virtualized.
Tintri was specifically built as THE storage solution for virtualized environments. If virtualization is a priority for your business, then finding a storage solution that supports that vision needs to be a priority too.
